The Accident

I was watching Discovery Channel last night, a documentary programme about The King’s Cross Fire accident broke out in Nov 18, 1987. It killed 31 people being trapped at the King’s Cross St. Pancras station in London.

A march was dropped into the crack between wooden steps (yes, escalator steps were made by wood at that time), by a passer-by smoker. It was soon reported by a passenger that he saw lights from the crack. A few wooden steps were on fire when Firemen arrived. It was concluded to be a small scale of fire.

The severity was underestimated.
